Michael Cera: A Brief but Heartfelt Tribute

Having finally gotten around to seeing Superbad (hilarious!), I'd like to formally express my appreciation to Michael Cera for being incredibly awesome, and to Arrested Development for discovering him. Even back when he was a mere 15 or so years old, he was one of the best things about Arrested Development (what a fun, sexy time for all of us). This year, he substantially improved my summer with Clark and Michael, his hysterical internet show with fellow awesomeite Clark Duke. (Watch it. Watch it all.)

Thus, in tribute to Michael Cera's comic genius, I present to you two of my favorite viral videos ever--oldies but goodies. First, "Impossible is the Opposite of Possible," a parody of "Impossible is Nothing," a video resume submitted by a Yale student applying for a job with an investment bank (truly hilarious if you watch the original video, which is pretty damn hilarious in itself):


Second, a video of Michael Cera being "fired" by Judd Apatow on the set of Knocked Up. He's almost his character from Clark and Michael in this one:

I'm Thankful for Arrested Development!

This Thanksgiving (or, for you America-haters/Canadians, this Thursday for no reason), you have something to add to your list of things to be thankful for. Arrested Development streaming online. For free. According to Broadcast Newsroom, three new episodes will be added every three weeks for the next year, until all 53 episodes are streaming online. For free. (Can't stress that enough.) The first five episodes are already up, playing on a new MSN video player made specially for longer videos. Plus, they'll be adding DVD-style extras, and interactive features for fans such as message boards and RSS feeds.

Hear me now, those of you who haven't seen Arrested Development: GIVE THIS SHOW A CHANCE! It is, without a doubt, one of the funniest shows that has ever existed (and certainly the funniest I've ever seen). Arrested Development shows an incredible attention to detail and continuity which rewards regular viewers with jokes that sometimes reference moments from seasons earlier, so start watching and keep watching! In my opinion, it gets even better in the second season!

At least check out the first five episodes, and if you don't like them, we can no longer be friends. (I'm really only half-kidding. And by "half-kidding," I mean, "not at all kidding." Sorry, Lori. I know you'll like it, though!) You have NO EXCUSES LEFT, non-watchers! It's online, it's free, and it's on your computer just a short click away.

Scrubs + Arrested Development = INFINITE JOY

Michael Ausiello has an interview with Zach Braff in his TV Guide blog, and it contains the following exchange that makes my heart soar with likely-to-be-cruelly-crushed hope:

Ausiello: What's this I hear about David Cross coming on as his Arrested Development character?

Braff: That's what I'm trying to broker. I'm a huge fan of his and so is Bill, and our idea was that he would play Tobias in an episode. Obviously, we have to get that cleared by a lot of people, like [Arrested creator] Mitch [Hurwitz] and Fox, but that was my pitch. David wants to do it.

Ausiello: Is it your goal to get the entire Arrested Development cast on Scrubs?

Braff: [Laughs] Yeah, one by one. I was such a fan.

Holy. Crap. I fear the world wouldn't even be able to handle such comedic synchrony. It would be like that South Park episode where Cartman sees the funniest thing he'll ever see and loses his sense of humor, only it would happen to everyone.

I'm thinking it'd be worth it, though, if only to see The Todd and Tobias finally ooze repressed gayness together, as the comedy gods intended. And JD and Tobias could be never-nudes together! And oh, the "Analrapist" jokes!

Additional awesome reminder: They're doing a musical episode of Scrubs.

Additional tragic reminder: Zach Braff may be leaving the cast after this year. (I'mnotlisteningI'mnotlistening! Lalalalala!)
